NinjaTrader Platform

You can use any execution platform desired. However, if you intend to use our automatic interface modules, then Ninja is required.

  1. Locate and fund a Futures broker that supports Ninja Trader, then download and install the Ninja Trader platform onto your computer. You need to work with your broker on the account number, funding, and platform connection setup.

When you contact the broker and download Ninja from their server, they will send you a 'key' to unlock Ninja and operate with their brokerage.

Visit Ninja Trader supported brokerage page here

  2. When you 'name' your account connection in Ninja, be sure and use the proper name, so that the Module can 'find' Ninja:

    Forex Trader: CF_Forex

    Futures Trader: CF_Futures

Brokerage Funding

You can open accounts with as little as $500, depending on the broker. You would really want to open with at least $5000. This should never be money that is earmarked for something else important.

Number of Lots to Trade

As important as the system itself, is 'Trade Management'. First of all you need to enter a trade ALWAYS with a protective stop loss (SL). The following is only an example, as you are te final judge in such matters.

People trade with anywhere from 2% to 10% risk per trade, in general. This is YOUR decision.

Computer Hardware

Running esignal, Ninja, and the Interface Module is a pretty good drain on resources. Use a modern computer, fast processor and a lot of memory. We use a new HP 9750 AMD with 8 mb memory, and Vista Home Premium/Windows 7, without any problems at all. If you can, just use this computer for dedicated trading, no emails or browsing. It must use a battery back-up system and you should defrag often IF you use it for other purposes.

You should also upgrade your system for at least 2 monitors, as you will have 3 softwares running and they are easier to view if spread apart. We have used the NVIDIA Quadro NVS 290 for our HP machines. As this is a dual-head card, you can then run 3 monitors if you wish!

Consider removal of virus programs, especially Norton. These slow things down and can often interfer with downloads.

News Events

News often can give extra volatility and can often reduce volatility before the announcement. Be aware of these events. The primary news to be concerned with are:

  • FOMC interest rate announcement
  • Non-farm payrolls on 1 Friday a month

It is best NOT to trade that day ( and maybe the night session before ), although the Robot has done great in previous news events. Up to you!

Obtain economic news at: Econoday

Other days to consider avoiding are the Fridays going into a significant 3 day holiday weekend, as the volume is usually low and the price action, even at the open, can be flat.

Vista

If you are running our Interface Module on Vista, and you get error messages, then you need to perform these quick fixes. They are needed because of the massive permission business that Vista utilizes. These same issues/fixes may be present in the new Windows 7.

Errors

We have seen 2 error messages so far appear when the permissions are not set correctly:

  1. Program has stopped working. Windows is searching for a solution.
  2. Unable to cast COM...

The Fix

Please follow these steps in order:

  1. Delete the existing desktop shortcuts for the program.
  2. Navigate to the folder where the actual program is stored:

    For the Interface Module -
    Folder: C:\Program Files\Conceptforex\
Program file is: ForexTrader.exe or FuturesTrader.exe

  3. Now, right click on the '.exe' file and send shortcut to desktop
  4. Right click on the new shortcut, and select 'Properties'
  5. Click on the 'Compatibility' tab
  6. Check the box under 'Privilege Level' - Run this program as an administrator
  7. Click 'OK' and you are done

The existing esignal desktop shortcut

  1. Perform above steps 4 thru 7 on the existing esignal desktop shortcut
