eSignal Chart Setup
Vista
*also in the Autopro software packages
What are EFS studies?
These are special studies, also called scripts, which run in an eSignal chart window. The ‘efs’ stands for “eSignal Formula Study”. These are software programs written in an eSignal version of JavaScript programming language. Once inserted into a chart, they provide the trader with the necessary visual information of the prices to help, of course, with trading.
The efs studies are automatically installed in the proper directory and folders of eSignal. This is handled during the download and the installation process. You then insert the desired scripts into your chart, 1 at a time. See below for instructions.
Each software study has the extension: .efs
Example: Autopro USFU.efs or Disparity EXFU.efs

Need to download? here

eSignal USERNAME
There is code in the efs that only allows it to operate on your machine, under your own eSignal username.
That is why we need your username to provision the efs to function.
In eSignal, go to:
File > Preferences > Connection tab
You will then see your username
Click here to send username if you have not already done so.
eSignal basics
We do not teach nor support eSignal charts and datafeed.
However, if you are new to eSignal, you may find the following information helpful.
eSignal data feed
To power the chart with data, you need the following from eSignal:
- Premier data feed
- Exchange add-on:
- CME 'emini' for the Midcap 400, S&P 500, Nasdaq 100
- ICE exchange for the Russell
- NYME miNY crude oil for the Crude Oil
- NYSE and/or Nasdaq and/or AMEX for your desired stock symbol
- FX GTIS for the spot forex
- CME 'Full' for all forex futures
- CBOT mini futures for the DJI mini (YM)
- EUREX for the DAX and EuroStoxx
If you are unclear how to do this yourself, then contact an esignal support representative on the phone and have them set this up for you.
Inserting the EFS into the chart
First, make sure the chart symbol is correct:
- emini Russell: TF #F
- emini Midcap: MC #F
- emini S&P: ES #F
- emini Nasdaq: NQ #F
- miny Crude: QM #F
- mini Dow: YM #F
- stocks: standard symbol for that company
- Dax Futures: AX H9-DT (the H9 will change with the roll-over quarterly)
- EuroStoxx Futures: ET H9-DT (the H9 will change with the roll-over quarterly)
- Forex Futures: 6A #F, 6B #F, 6C #F, 6E #F, 6J #F, 6N #F, 6S #F
- Now, ‘select’ a chart. You select a chart by clicking the mouse in it.
- Next, go to the eSignal toolbar at the top of everything and find the ‘Chart Options’ menu option, then click on it to open the menu.
- A context menu opens and you will see a folder icon near the bottom called ‘Formulas’.
- Hover the mouse over the Formulas, which opens another menu.
Find the folder called ‘AutoPro’ and hover the mouse over it to open.
- You will then see the AutoPro efs studies.
- Click on the desired efs and the efs will show up in your chart. Only select the correct Autopro with the activated ending. Example: You are activated for US futures, so only select the softwares ending in'USFU'.
Making a new eSignal chart - Constructing a new page
If you have a blank page, follow this sequence to make a new default chart of your liking.
- File > New > Advanced Chart > Candlestick
- Then change the symbol, time interval to what you want
- Add the studies you desire, including the proper AutoPro efs scripts
- Then right-click in this chart > Style Templates > Set As Default
Now to add more charts to your page, do this:
- File > New > Advanced Chart > Default Chart
- And a copy of your saved, default chart will appear on top of the first one
- Move this new chart to an open portion of your page
- Repeat and rename as needed
Be sure and save your page.
Page > Save Page (and give it a name).
Changing a symbol and/or time frame in a chart
Select a chart by clicking in it.
Now press the COMMA key and the 'Change Symbol' dialog box will appear.
To change the Symbol: Type in the new desired symbol.
To change the Interval: Type in the new desired time interval.

For a SWING time, like 15 minutes, put a 15 in the interval box.
For LONG times, daily would be D, weekly would be W.
For a SCALP chart time, like 125 ticks, put a 125T in the time box or regular times like 3 or 5 minutes
When using the scalp module, Tick Charts have the advantage of 'breaking down' an otherwise, large forming time bar, into a tradeable number of bars, that the software can measure.
Linking charts for symbol change
In the upper left of a chart is a 'Link" label.
To link 2 or more charts together, just click this label in each chart and make the same 'color'.
Now if you change the symbol in 1 chart the others that are linked will also change.
Scaling changes
If you find that prices or any of the studies are 'scrunched together' either up and down or right to left, then, put the cursor in the outside colum of the chart window, hold the mouse button down and slide the cursor, up and down ( for vertical scale changes ) or left and right ( for horizontal scale changes ).
Chart options
With a chart selected, click on the 'Chart Options' at the top.
Take time to explore and learn the various options available here.
News Events
News often can give extra volatility and can often reduce volatility before the announcement. Be aware of these events. The primary news to be concerned with is the interest rate announcement called FOMC. It is best NOT to trade that day.
